2023 88th Illinois 101 Counties Open Checker Tournament

The 88th Annual Illinois 101 Counties Open Checker Tournament will be held Saturday, October 7th, 2023 in Marion, IL. Registration at 8:00 a.m. with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. Note the change in format to a one day tournament.
Venue: Mackie's Pizza, at 2704 Walton Way, Marion, IL 62959. The Illinois State Checker Association will be providing pizza for meals to all players Players will need to purchase their own beverages.
The Mackie's Pizza is located west of the intersection of Interstate I-57 and IL State Highway 13 (Exit 54). Travel west on IL 13 about 0.6 miles. Turn left onto Walton Way and follow around to Mackie's Pizza. Recommended hotel: Super 8 Motel at 2601 Vernell Road, Marion, IL 62959 (map), phone 618-993-5577. The Super 8 is located to the left, off the first light west of the Interstate.

The 2023 Illinois 101 Counties Tournament was
played on October 7, in Marion, IL. We had six Illinois players and one Missouri
player. It was great to see each other and play some fun checkers
together. One class was played in a Swiss pairing using three-move restriction
with five rounds as a one day tournament. Brian Hinkle was the tournament
champion. Gary Ellison was the Illinois champion. Special thanks go to Joe
McDaniel for his generous contribution to the prize fund.
Notice... Mackie's Pizza will be
closing soon, so a new venue will be announced for our April Illinois State
Tournament.
